Christmas Cardio

Our Christmas morning was the perfect, “Welcome to Farm-life” type of morning. Luckily the boys didn’t wake up super early, and the baby slept until 6am, so we were enjoying a relatively slow morning getting out to the tree, making some coffee and digging into our stockings, when Matt glanced outside to take in our favorite view of the cows. I mean horses. Nope, he said cow. (!!!)

Yikes! Back when I was a kid, this was actually commonplace at my childhood home. Our neighbor’s fence was old and we would often see a cow or two break through and call the neighbors over, and it would be a whole thing.  I remember that we had to hold our hands out wide to look big and try to sound as loud as we could to try to herd them back in.  So that’s what we did. Still rocking our pajamas, I’m sure our neighbors (and any cars driving by) probably got some nice Christmas morning entertainment, watching us both pulling out our best herding skills, and herd them back up the hill, behind the horse barn, and into the pasture.

Luckily, they are herding animals, so they all stayed together, but boy were they skipping and running and frolicking and jumping! They were so stinking proud of themselves! Also thankfully, we found the broken fence that they had walked over and we were able to fix it quickly.  At that point, we realized that the boys and dog had been fending for themselves in the house, but when we walked through the door, they were completely unfazed that we had been gone and were completely enthralled in their toys they had already opened.
